Non-collection of a Child Policy
I realize that sometimes you may be delayed in picking up your child due to unforeseen circumstances.
It is important that you inform me, as soon as possible, if you know you will/might be late picking up your child. Normal charges apply for the extra time but be assured that your child will be safely cared for until your child is collected.
If a child is not collected at the arranged time, and I have not heard from the person collecting your child, the following procedure will apply:
After 30-60 minutes I will attempt to contact the parent/carer. If I am unable to do so I will then contact the emergency numbers given to me. I will try this several times.
If after 3 hours I am still unable to contact anyone, I will call MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) or CYPS (Children and Young Peoples Services) out of hours line. (I am not registered for overnight care).
I will then follow their advice. Your child will be safely cared for at all times. The incident will be appropriately recorded.
Please see my Policy for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Retention.
SO PLEASE INSURE I HAVE PLENTY OF CONTACTS, EVEN IF THEY LIVE SOME DISTANCE AWAY INCASE PARENTS AND LOCAL NAMED CONTACTS ARE UNABLE TO COLLECT or GET IN TOUCH- If I cannot contact anyone after a reasonable time I am required to call CYPS (social services)– I will do my best to avoid this scenario and I am prepared to wait for named contacts to travel a long distance to collect your child if you are, for some reason, unable to.
Unforeseen delays do happen but please contact me if you are going to be delayed.
